International GCSE Student Stories: Palak | International GCSE Science & Biology Review

Palak decided to study International GCSE Science and International GCSE Human Biology with us online to achieve her dreams of becoming a midwife. Discover more about her story. 

I currently work as a part-time care assistant and I just recently finished college, from where I achieved A* in Cache Level 3 Health and Social Care Extended Diploma.

I wanted to apply for midwifery, which required an overall 5 GCSEs, including Maths, English, and Science subjects like Human biology. However, I didn't have enough GCSEs and this made me very sad and stressed.

I thought the local college would help, but they denied me as they said it was too late to enrol (it was December and this meant that I would have to wait until September). However, after doing some research and enrolling with online learning, I found about ICS Learn which has been great for me!

Student advisors helped me to choose the right course and gave me all the necessary information so that I could make an informed decision.

They not only helped me, but they contacted me in the way which best met my needs - via e-mail during college hours and also via telephone.

I started studying International GCSE Human Biology and International GCSE Double Award Science, which included Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The payment option is also very flexible and is a fair price for the quality of the course, tutor support, and length of course.

As soon as the payment was done, I had instant access to the courses. Whenever I did not understand something I would send a query to my tutor who would answer as soon as they could.

Throughout the units, there are little mini progress checks for every topic, and the good thing is these can be self marked (you can check the answer by pressing "reveal answers")! However, once you finished a unit, you do a test paper which tests the learner on the topics covered.

The course provided exactly what I needed to sit the exam, and it was written in a very clear and simple way. 

What I really appreciated is that ICS Learn did not leave their students alone, especially in these unprecedented circumstances, as I am aware other distance providers have not been able to provide a grade, unlike ICS Learn, which stood with the students.

Thanks to ICS Learn, I achieved a grade 4 in Human Biology! Moreover, the tutors are very experienced and are always ready to help and provide feedback to test papers and mock exams!

It is good because you study when you have time and you do not need to go anywhere, you can stay home and still learn!

This course fits around my life, especially while I attended college, along with volunteer work, and assisting events at college.

Tutor support has been great, especially when I was meant to have my "exam" with ICS, Learn so that the centre could have a better idea of which grade they could predict me. My tutor answered really quick, and used to mark test papers and any mock exams as soon possible!

Not only this, but she was also very friendly and also called me to apologise regarding how certain events occur and I really appreciate the effort she put in. 

Next month I will start my midwifery degree, and this is thanks to ICS Learn which put so much effort to ensure we independent learners do not get left behind!
