This means that CIPD qualifications are highly respected and sought-after by employers.

Where CIPD qualifications aren't a necessity, they'll put you head and shoulders above the competition.

CIPD Level 7 qualifications are best suited to those who are ready to take on postgraduate-level study and who have either significant HR/L&D experience or an HR degree.

They're perfect if you’re already working in or are looking to move into a high-level role where you will have responsibility for designing and implementing HR or L&D strategy and policy.

If this doesn't sound like you, you might be better suited to a Level 3 or Level 5 qualification.

The CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate is ideal if you're just starting out and want to master the key operational skills you'll need to excel in entry-level roles.

CIPD Level 5 qualifications are great if you're seeking a mid-level role such as HR/L&D Manager or Advisor. They're suited to those who have some experience, whether through working in the profession directly or working in a role which involves aspects of HR/L&D, such as management.

Level 5 qualifications are also a great choice if you haven't worked in HR or L&D before but have a university degree and want to begin learning at a higher level.

Before you enrol with us, our expert CIPD advisors will talk through your experience, education, and ambitions to ensure you’re choosing the right course for you.

If you’re not ready to commit to the full CIPD Level 7 Diploma in Strategic People Management or L&D, and would like to focus on only the essential modules, you could study our CIPD Level 7 Core programme. 

It covers 4 modules:

  • Work and Working Lives in a Changing Business Environment
  • People Management and Development Strategies for Performance 
  • Personal Effectiveness, Ethics and Business Acumen 
  • Business Research in People Practice

The programme has an average completion time of 9 months and a support period of 12 months.

Bear in mind that the Core programme won’t give you a CIPD qualification, just the essential skills you need for senior HR or L&D roles.

If you complete the programme and then decide you’d like to move onto the full CIPD Level 7 Diploma in Strategic People Management or L&D, you won’t need to take the whole course again – you can simply complete the extra 4 modules and you’ll be CIPD qualified!
